Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Grant Writer to lead the preparation, submission, and management of grants and non-dilutive awards to advance Centivax’s vaccine and therapeutic programs. This individual will have sufficient scientific background to work independently to develop compelling, high-quality grant applications with support from Centivax scientific and operational teams. The role also includes managing active grants to ensure compliance and timely reporting, although previous experience here is only preferred and not required. The candidate will report to Chief Business Officer Stephanie Wisner at Centivax.

Job Responsibilities
Grant Writing (Primary Responsibility)
  • Independently draft, edit, and submit research and development grant proposals to federal, international, and philanthropic funders (e.g., NIH, BARDA, DTRA, CEPI, USDA, Gates Foundation).
  • Collaborate with scientists, executive leadership, finance, and project teams to gather technical content and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Proactively source novel opportunities, and track deadlines, eligibility, and formatting requirements across multiple open opportunities.
  • Lead the creation of budgets, biosketches, and supporting documentation.
Grant Management (Secondary Responsibility)
  • Monitor progress and reporting requirements for awarded grants.
  • Prepare interim and final reports, RPPRs, and other communications with funding agencies.
  • Coordinate compliance with grant terms, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Support audit readiness and liaise with finance and program leads to ensure appropriate expenditure tracking.
Qualifications
  • Scientific background required; Ph.D. or M.S. in a relevant life sciences or biomedical field strongly preferred. Candidates should have sufficient background to be comfortable independently writing grant applications for Centivax.
  • Proven track record of successful grant writing, ideally in the biotech, biomedical research, or drug development space.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with common grant systems (e.g., ASSIST, eRA Commons, Grants.gov) and federal funding mechanisms.
  • Experience managing post-award grant compliance and reporting is a plus, but not required.
Work Environment
  • In-person preferred, but can be a fully remote position with flexible hours.
  • Collaborates closely with scientific leadership, project management, and finance.
  • Opportunity to work at the front lines of universal vaccine and therapeutics development.
